You see them more often now—sculptures at parks, in front of malls, or by the side of new buildings. Some are bright and bold. Some are simple, almost invisible until you walk closer.
If you look closely, many of them aren’t made from metal or stone anymore. They’re fiberglass. A practical choice, really. Light, strong, and not bothered by the weather.
Working With the Material, Not Against It
Fiberglass gives a lot of room to play. You can shape it however you want—smooth, curved, or sharp-edged. It doesn’t fight with the idea.
Because it’s lighter than concrete or bronze, it doesn’t need a heavy base. You can move it around or reinstall it later without a big fuss. That’s a big deal when projects change halfway, which happens often enough here.
Built for the Heat, the Rain, and Everything in Between
Malaysia’s weather is no joke. Some days it’s blazing hot; the next day it pours. Metal rusts, concrete cracks, and paint fades. Fiberglass stays the same.
At Iranajaya, most of the pieces we make are for outdoor spaces—resorts, public squares, and landscaped walkways. They’re meant to stand there quietly for years. FRP, or Fibreglass Reinforced Polyester, is good for that. It doesn’t need babysitting.
Easy to Keep, Hard to Break
One thing about fiberglass sculptures—they don’t ask for attention. A quick rinse once in a while and they’re fine. No rust, no peeling, no hidden cracks.
For public areas where maintenance is a constant headache, that’s a small but important win. The surface finish holds well too. Bright colors stay bright. Muted ones don’t turn dull.
Every Piece Feels Different
No two projects are the same. Some clients know exactly what they want. Others come in with only a rough idea. We’ve had sketches drawn on napkins, 3D renders, and even phone photos of something they saw overseas.
Fiberglass can handle all of it. You can make it look like stone, metal, or wood. It’s just a matter of texture and finish. The flexibility means we can focus more on what feels right for the space.
Something Modern, Something Quiet
Fiberglass sculptures have found their place in how newer public spaces look. They don’t try to replace traditional materials, just offer a different kind of presence.
They sit there, catching light, sometimes color, sometimes attention—strong, light, and built to last.
If you’re working on a space that needs something lasting but not heavy, something expressive but low maintenance, fiberglass is worth a look. You can see how we approach it on our Custom Fiberglass Sculptures page. Each piece starts with a small idea and ends up part of the place it belongs to.
